BCA MASTERMIND GROUP
WHAT IS IT
A mastermind group is a peer-to-peer mentoring concept used to help individuals solve their problems or learn with input and advice from the other group members.
Originated by Napoleon Hill, his classic book Think and Grow Rich, he coined the phrase “mastermind group” whilst pointing out that the most successful people throughout history had a personal “Board of Advisors” that helped them reach their goals.
Time and travel constraints within basketball make it difficult for coaches to be able to consistently learn and share with others. It is hoped that mastermind groups might be able to help stimulate thinking, share best practice as well as support coaches in need.
The Basketball Coaches Association will act as an introduction service to connect you with other coaches outside of your current network that are also looking to give and receive advice and ideas and support each other. Ideally, coaches will be operating at a similar level whilst not being direct competitors on a regular basis. This will enable coaches the freedom and comfort of sharing with their group.
On a practical level, each group would meet regularly via google hangouts online at a defined day and time. Here you will be able to interact with your group on topics predefined and led by your own group. Discussions can be shaped by those involved in each of the masterminds and can take on several different formats that can be established or rotated.
Each group will require a facilitator that will lead the group and steer the planning of future meetings. Facilitators should act as a guide to the group and ensure that all members get the opportunity to contribute equally.
